TECNO listed among Africa’s 10 most admired brands

For some years now, technology has been one of, if not the biggest business in the world, as most of our daily lives now depend on several technological offerings. The likes of Samsung, Apple, TECNO and LG seem to be the front runners of this feat in Africa.

Apart from being large, highly successful global businesses, they also have something in common: they are amongst the 2018 top ten most admired brands in Africa.

According to Brand Africa, the overall ‘2017/18 Brand Africa 100’ list, which started out with over 15,500 brand mentions covering over 2,200 admired brands, illustrates a very diversified portfolio of categories and brands in Africa.

The top-100 is dominated by technology and electronic brands (29%), consumer (non-cyclical) (19%), apparel (15%), automobile (8%), food (7%) and sports & fitness (5%).

The US sports and fitness brand, Nike, is the overall No1 brand most admired in Africa, as Korean smartphone conglomerate, Samsung drop to second position. Apple maintained its No 5 spot, while LG seems to be losing its momentum as it dropped 4 spots to number 10. The major change on the list is the status of TECNO Mobile.

The Chinese OEM giant took the biggest leap from No 14th in 2017 and now to the 7th most admired brand in Africa, which obviously puts it as one of the top 10 brands that are most admired in Africa.

These further fuels the claim that TECNO Mobile is the most sort after smartphone brand in Africa and it is difficult to find businesses or brands that have successfully survived the dynamism of the African business space in the short time TECNO has.

Several people have attributed the complex nature of the African market to several factors including growing populations and inconsistencies in government policies amongst other things.

Despite these challenges, TECNO Mobile have been able to make their mark as a force to reckon with across Africa. TECNO Mobile’s prominence is one that has come as a surprise to many people because, once upon a time they were at the receiving end of negative perceptions.

The job the TECNO team have done is quite amazing, having gradually risen through all the hurdles to now become one of the most sort after OEM brands in Africa.

Making the top ten most admired brands in Africa is a clear testament of TECNO’s growth and this feat deserves to be applauded.
