Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State on Wednesday vowed to deal with perpetrators of recent attacks in the state.

Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Sylvanus Giwa, Ishiaku appealed to residents with useful information on the suspected herdsmen to come forward, adding that they should “report any suspicious character” to the authorities.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen had on Sunday attacked two villages in the state, leaving about 15 persons killed with several property destroyed.

The governor’s media aide confirmed the deployment of police officers to the troubled area, stressing that, “the whole place is now calm.

He alleged that plans to carry out the attack was done in the house of the suspect paraded by the State’s Police Commissioner.

Giwa noted that the “governor will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book.

“The place has been cordoned off and serious security checks are going on in those villages,” he said.

Giwa who dismissed claims by the police authorities that 15 people were killed, said “the information we got was about 44 people.

“You cannot count the number of the corpses that were burnt unless you go there and see or see the visuals,” he added.
