Tambuwal directs human rights agency to investigate death of suspect in custody

Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has directed the state’s Human Rights Agency to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of a 38-year-old Jamilu Abdullahi in the custody of the state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, in Sokoto on Friday, adding that the governor expressed sadness over the unfortunate situation.

According to the statement, Tambuwal said the state government would investigate to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of Abdullahi and recommend steps to avert future occurrence, adding that his administration values human lives and would continue to respect the sanctity of the lives of all its citizens.
