Taiwo Lawrence Adeyemi: PDP’s ‘Operation Octopus’!

Charles Lamb an English essayist, poet, and antiquarian, remarked, “The most interesting knock in the world is the gentle knock at the door.”

A violent knocked by Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] on March 9th, 2019 at eight hotly contested states of All Progressive Congress [APC] shook it’s government houses violently! It was an ‘octopodid’ [octopus] like attack. What is octopus? Octopus is a bottom living cephalopod, having a soft oval body with eight long tentacles, also called ‘devil fish’.

Former ex-Liberian President Charles Ghankay Taylor [presently serving 50 years jail term in The Hague for war crimes, crimes committed against humanity and money laundering, Charles Ghankay Taylor will serve the rest of his life in isolation, because he was too much of a target and too vulnerable to be kept] launched what was widely known as ‘Operation Octopus’ on October 15th, 1992 from Firestone’s Liberian plantation as an all-out attack to capture Monrovia, capital of Liberia, in his bid to overrun Monrovia and install the National Patriotic Reconstruction Assembly Government [NPRAG]. ‘Operation Octopus’ took the entire ECOMOG troops that were stationed in ECOMOG Headquarters, Free-zone, Bushrod Island, Monrovia by storm.

Lieutenant General Samuel Victor Leonard Malu was commander of the Economic Community of West African States [ECOWAS] peace-keeping force ECOMOG from December 1996 to April 1998 during the First Liberian Civil War.

By March 1997 he was able to claim that Liberia was completely cleared of landmines The combined efforts of Lieutenant General Samuel Victor Leonard Malu, The ECOMOG Force Commander at the time save the whole Monrovia been over-run by Charles Ghankay Taylor, National Patriotic Front of Liberia [NPFL]. General Victor Samuel Leonard Malu impressed both Liberians and international observers with the improvements that followed his taking command.

The infamous ‘Operation Octopus’ which lasted nearly 120 days reportedly sparked-off after series of harsh and unfavourable political and economic exchanges from interim President Amos C. Sawyer on one hand, ex-president Charles Taylor, and the former leader of the Independent National Patriotic Front of Liberia [INPFL] Prince Yormie Johnson, now senior Senator of his native Nimba County at the other end.

Like Charles Ghankay Taylor ‘Operation Octopus’ and ‘Paul the Octopus’ – [Paul the Octopus was a common octopus used to predict the results of association football matches. Accurate predictions in the 2010 World Cup brought him worldwide attention as an animal oracle. During divinations, Paul’s keepers would present him with two boxes containing food], Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] has successfully battled All Progressive Congress [APC] in eight states described as ‘octagonal states’ namely; Bauchi, Imo, Sokoto, Rivers, Kano, Oyo, Benue, & Adamawa States.

Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] left in it’s conquering trails; ‘Hurricane’, ‘Thunderstorm’, ‘Miracles’, ‘Unforgettable Memories’, ‘The Mighty Fallen’, and ‘Alluvial of Dungs’! It was according to General Sun Tzu, “At the core of this ancient strategy is the understanding that conflict is an inescapable part of human life.”

“A victorious military is like weighing a hundred weight against a grain. A defeated military is like weighing a grain against a hundred weight. One who weighs victory sets the people to battle like releasing amassed water into a gorge one thousand jen deep.”

The final “Operation Octopus” by Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] will simultaneously be taking place in Kano, Sokoto, Benue, Adamawa, Plateau States on March 23rd, 2019. To attack and surely take it where they do not defend. To defend and surely hold firm, defend where they don’t attack. To defend and surely hold firm, defend where they will surely attack.

Knowing the other and knowing oneself, in one hundred battles no danger. Not knowing the other and knowing oneself, one victory for one loss. Not knowing the other and not knowing oneself, in every battle, certain defeat!
