Residents of Umuwaya in Umuahia, Abia State have been thrown into a state of mourning as a tailor identified as Anthony Kalu has been stabbed to death by his colleague.
Kalu was said to have been hacked to death on Wednesday at no 39, Kaduna Street, Umuwaya Road following a minor disagreement over his absence from a scheduled meeting.
It was gathered that the meeting was scheduled to discuss sanitation matters and was fully attended by members. In the meeting, it was agreed that absentees be asked why they were not at the meeting. Kalu an indigene of Ebonyi state was said to be one of those absent from the meeting.
Trouble was said to have started when the suspect, Iheanyi John also from Ebonyi State confronted the victim to know why he was busy with his business while the meeting was going on.
An altercation which ensued between the two as a result of the confrontation led Ifeanyi to stab the deceased with a pair of scissors which pierced through his neck, leaving him to bleed from his mouth, nose, eyes and ears.
Noticing that Kalu was dead, the suspect was alleged to have left the scissors on the throat of the deceased before heading to a nearby Central Police Station where he handed himself over to the police.
Confirming the incident, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ezekiel Onyeke said the police have commenced investigation into the matter.
