Tailor remanded for defiling seven-year-old girl in Lagos

An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, in Lagos, has remanded a 21-year-old tailor, identified as Francis Adeniyi, who allegedly defiled a seven-year-old girl.

Adeniyi, a resident of Ajiboye Street, Alapere, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of indecent sexual assault and defiling a minor, NAN reports.

The prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the girl’s mother (name withheld) had reported the case at the Alapere Police Station.

Ihiehie stated that the complainant returned from work to discover her daughter bleeding from her private part.

“She took her to the hospital where it was confirmed that her private part had been tampered with.

“The girl told the police that the accused, who owns a tailoring shop in their compound, dragged her to the bathroom.

“He removed her pant and forced his penis into her vagina and anus; and then asked her to go home,” he said.

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The plea of the accused was not taken and the case was adjourned until March 28.

The offences contravened sections 137 and 265(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
