Synagogue building collapse: Mystery aircraft claim will be investigated – Obanikoro

Minister of State for Defence, Musliu Obanikoro, has assured that investigations were ongoing to unravel the mystery over the aircraft that allegedly caused the collapse of a building belonging to the Synagogue Church in Lagos.

The management of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) had claimed that an unidentified airplane hovered above the building many times before it finally collapsed.

The Church also provided a CCTV footage to buttress its claim.

About 115 persons died and over 300 injured when the six-storey building collapsed on September 12.

Speaking during a condolence visit to the church, Obanikoro urged Nigerians to remain calm, saying the ‘strange aircraft’ would be thoroughly probed.

He said: “We must not pre-empt the outcome of investigation. The incident is under the jurisdiction of the police and they will do all they can to conclude investigations swiftly.

“Human lives are involved and so the issue must not be trivialised or politicised. I am here to commiserate with the church and all the people that lost their loved ones.

“We must remember that the families of those that died are there and so, we must try not to hurt them more with our reportage. My appeal is that people should wait for the outcome of the investigation.”
