Suspension of Enugu East chairman is a nullity – Enugu APC

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Enugu State Chapter, has faulted the purported suspension of Chief Anike Nwoga, the Vice Chairman of APC, Enugu East Senatorial Zone, describing it as an action taken “in utter disregard and at variance with the constitution and tradition of our great party.”

In a statement by Mrs. Kate Ofor, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Enugu State, the Party observed that the said suspension was at variance with Article 2 Subsection I, and Section VI Section C of its constitution.

Ofor insisted that since the said provisions were not adhered to, the party “takes objection with the action of those who head to the media with the slightest disagreement or provocation, their failure to abide by the tenets of the constitution of our great party which is quoted above is objectionable.”

The statement noted that “recently, the footprints of PDP are being spotted in the way and manner some of our members are tainting the image of the Party in the Public Domain, accordingly those agents of the PDP should be courageous enough to leave us in peace.

“We are at a loss where Chief Anike Nwoga one of the few founding members of our great party who from the scratch has remained in the opposition can today be smeared with unfounded anti-party activity tag.

“The APC Chieftain in question, Chief Anike Nwoga has already contacted the State Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye who is believed will summon a meeting of the State working committee to redress the obnoxious act.

“It sounds irresponsible and irreconcilable for Enugu East APC to set up a three man committee to investigate Chief Nwoga after they had suspended him.

“Our great Party APC makes room for fair hearing, which is the bedrock of the rule of law, before sanctions of any description. It sounds strange that Enugu East APC took a reverse step.

“Their action of putting the cat before the horse exposed their flanks as PDP Agents. Our understanding of Chief Anike’s offense is the statement he made on the 6th of May on Independent Newspaper Page 4, to the effect that APC will win in Enugu State and take over the governance by 2019. It goes with the old saying that the witch cried at night and the child died in the morning.”
