The Edo State women wing of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mrs. Aisosa Amadasun, has called on the suspended Enojie of Uromi, His Royal Highness Anselm Aidenojie II, to tender an apology to women in the state for his alleged attack on one a woman.
The monarch was suspended in a statement dated October 26 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere.
He allegedly assaulted one Mrs. Betty Okoebor.
Edo Woman Leader of the APC, Dr. Aisosa Amadasun, in a statement on Friday said, “We have issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the suspended monarch to apologise to all Edo women or face court action.”
Amadasun hailed the state executive council, describing it as a measure that “would discourage others who think the weak have no place in their midst”.
“I want to specially thank the state executive council for the timely intervention and attempt to right the wrong perpetrated against one of our own – the weak in the society,” she said.
Amadasun also called on her male counterparts to join forces in speaking against violence and discrimination against women in the society.
“The men who commit violence think they are likely to get away with it and, devastatingly, they are right but for this step taken by the Edo State Executive Council to stem this tidal wave of violence,” Amadasun added.
