Suspended Kogi lawmaker, Friday Makama describes court judgement as victory for democracy

Suspended Kogi lawmaker, Friday Sani Makama has described judgement of the Kogi State High Court, sitting in Lokoja, which reinstated him on Thursday as victory for democracy.

Speaking with DAILY POST in Abuja, Makama representing Igalamela/Odolu State constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly explained that the court had proved to be the last hope for the common man.

He also noted that the decision would further embolden lawmakers across the country to stand in defense of their rights as well as protect the sanctity of democracy.

“I must commend Justice Henry Olusuyi of Kogi State High Court II’s decision to reinstate me from suspension.

“This shows that any one could approach the court with confidence whenever things go wrong”, he said.

The lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts also noted that he has forgiven those behind his suspension, saying that he was ready to work with all in the interest of the state.

Meanwhile, Justice Henry Olusuyi of Kogi state High Court II in Lokoja yesterday ruled that the suspension of Makama on March 29th by the State of Assembly was an act of insolence as well as illegal.

He ordered: “that the suspended lawmaker be reinstated immediately with all his legal entitlements paid in arrears.”

Makama assured his constituents that he would work assiduously to fulfill the mandate given to him, stressing that the temporary setback was always the case whenever one was standing for the masses.
