The suspended Adamawa House of Assembly member, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abubakar (APC-Mubi South), has apologised to the house for his actions.
Abubakar, whose three months suspension had elapsed, was suspended for alleged improper dressing and for criticising the house’s approval of virement for the executive in 2015 budget.
The lawmaker, who had dragged the house to court over his suspension but the court struck out the case for lack of jurisdiction, said he accepted the court’s ruling in good faith.
Abubakar, in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola on Sunday, said he had learnt his lesson and would never go against the house again.
“I, hereby, wish to formally tender my apology to the Speaker, Mr Kabiru Mijinyawa, leadership and entire hounourable members of Adamawa State House of Assembly.
“My sincere unreserved apology goes to the Executive Governor of Adamawa state, Sen. Mohammadu Jibrilla, the leadership and members of our great party, the APC and my constituents for what happened.
“I want to state categorically that I hold no grudge against anyone. I believe in the fact that the best teacher is one’s last mistake.
“I accepted my mistake and promised that such incident will not happen again,’’ Abubakar said.
Meanwhile, the House Chief Whip and Chairman, House Committee on Information, Mr Hassan Barguma, said that the house would look at Abubakar’s apology and take a decision on whether to accept it or not. (NAN)
