Two suspects, who were arrested by the Diobu Vigilante Volunteer Group (DVVG) in Rivers State, have confessed that they are not armed robbers but only specialized in stealing tricycle, popularly called Keke.
Two members out of the gang of four are still at large, while the two arrested were identified as Musa Yahuza and Afgha Sadi.
The suspects on interrogation pleaded to be forgiven by the men of DVVG, adding that they were lured in the business of stealing Keke by the two suspects who escaped arrest.
The Secretary of DVVG, Prince Amatari Bipeledei said, before he handed the case to Mile 1 police station, that the suspect explained that they were caught because they are not familiar with the area.
“The ones that ran away are our friends, they know this area, but we don’t know the area. They paid us to drive the Keke down to this place but we didn’t know that the vigilante was after us.”
According to The Nation, Bipeledei, in confirming the incident, told the police that they were arrested at Echue sand field in Mile 1 Diobu as they were about taking the tricycle to an unknown destination.
“The arrested suspects confessed that they were lured financially by the two other suspects still at large”.
