A suspected robber was on Wednesday morning beaten and stripped naked after he was apprehended during a failed operation in Benin, the Edo State capital.
The yet-to-be named man who claimed to be 22 years old was apprehended after he stole a lady’s phone.
The robber had successfully moved the phone but on his way out of the lady’s shop, he was apprehended by someone who noticed his strange movement and raised the alarm.
An irate mob descended on him, stripped him naked and beat him to stupor.
He escaped being lynched by the mob after he was rescued by the police who reportedly took him to the station.
