Suspected ritualists murder pregnant woman, remove foetus in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the case of a group of men suspected to be ritualists who murdered a pregnant woman, Akata Roheemat, at Gboroko village, near Alapa in Asa Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ajayi Okasanmi, told New Telegraph on Thursday that the suspected ritual killers removed the victim’s eight-month foetus.

He said they also killed a 12-year-old girl who was with her at the time of the incident.

According to the report, the incident happened on Saturday about 4:30pm while Roheemat and the girl, said to be the daughter of her neighbour, were on their way to a nearby village.

The deceased hailed from Akata’s compound in Isale-Bani Alore area of Ilorin, the state capital.

The deceased is said to be a popular patent medicine dealer in the area and was going to the next village when the suspected ritualists waylaid and murdered her.

The PPRO said the case was immediately reported at Alapa Police Divisional Headquarters.

“The remains of the deceased have been deposited at a mortuary in Ilorin.

“No arrest has been made, investigations are ongoing,” the PPRO added.
