The Delta state Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Alkali Baba Usman, has said police detectives in Asaba, the Delta State capital, have arrested no fewer than 17 kidnap suspects across the state in the last one month. The CP made this known in Asaba during an interactive session with journalists.
According to him, the hoodlums who had been responsible for the kidnap of some employees of the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, in recent times, confessed to the crime upon interrogation.
“The suspects were arrested with the help of various vigilance groups.
“In the process of our investigation, we found out that idle youths in Oghara aid and abet kidnap suspects to execute their evil act.
“For an instance, over 20 staff of DELSUTH were kidnapped and released in the last one month, and the suspects confessed idle youths in Oghara assisted them.”
Usman noted that the suspects would be charged to court when investigations are completed.
