A middle aged man, Godwin Okon, has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for being in possession of human skulls and three locally made guns.
Okon, a suspected ritualist and kidnapper was nabbed on Saturday by officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS of the command.
Addressing newsmen in Uyo, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Cordelia Nwawe, said Okon’s residence was thoroughly searched leading to the discovery of the skulls and illegal firearms.
Nwawe who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Muritala Mani said Okon admitted to killing an employee of Addax Petroleum, who died in 2006 while in the suspect’s custody.
Nwawe said, “The police have been looking for the young man who is a kidnapper.
“Fortunately for us after laying siege in his place at Effiat in Mbo local government area, he was arrested on Saturday.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being the head of Daybam, a deadly Confraternity that has been terrorizing innocent citizens in the state.
“Okon further confessed to the killing of one Esther Effiong at Urueoffong Uruko LGA,” the police image maker added.
