Suspected illegal bunkers shoot soldier in Delta community

Suspected illegal Oil bunkers late Monday night allegedly shot and injured a soldier on guard duty at an oil facility at Escravos in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Soldier, DAILY POST learnt was rushed in the pool of his blood to an undisclosed hospital in Warri for medical treatments same night.

The incident has caused serious tension among residents within the riverine communities who fear that the military might stage a reprisal attack in search of the suspected illegal bunkers.

At the time of filing this report, some residents of the Ugborodo area are already packing out to uplands in case there is any possible strike by the military.

It was learnt that the Soldier was shot in his attempt to stop the suspected illegal oil bunkers from vandalizing an installation under his watch.

Contacted, the Commander of the Nigerian Army 3 Battalion in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, Maj. Ahmed T Abdukadri said,”I’m not aware of it.”

The Warri Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, ACP Mohammed Shaba did not pick or return text messages sent across to his mobile phone.
