A 25-year-old man, Oyedele Akinmuleya, on Friday, appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly being a member of an unlawful society.
Akinmuleya, whose address was not provided, is facing a count charge bordering on membership of unlawful society.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Mary Ajiteru, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 7 at about 6am at Ajegunle, Irawo in Ikorodu.
She said that the defendant enrolled himself as a member of Eiye Confraternity, a cult group.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 42(a) of Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr O.M. Dawodu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until August 29 for mention, NAN reports.
