The Cross River state Police Command says it has begun investigation into the death of a man simply identified as Godspower, who was killed over land dispute.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Henry Fadairo, at the Command headquarters in Calabar, the state capital, on Monday, said the Command is on the trail of a group of suspected cultists that hacked Godspower to death for reportedly obstructing the sale of a parcel of land in the Eight Miles axis of Calabar.
The picture of the deceased had sometime last week, gone viral on Facebook, indicating that he suffered varying degrees of machete cuts while his hands were tied with a rope.
The deceased was said to have been hacked to death, with his corpse buried in an unknown place.
Meanwhile, a security agent disclosed to The Punch that reports had it that the deceased was an armed robber that was clubbed to death in the said area of the state capital, after an operation.
However, a police source confirmed to the newspaper that the deceased was killed by a gang of eight men because he had consistently opposed the sale of a parcel of land by one Edim Edim, alleged to be leader of the said gang.
