Suspected cultists drown man, bury him alive In Lagos

A group of suspected cultists, in the Mushin area of Lagos State, have reportedly dragged an unidentified motorist out of a commercial bus and buried him alive, drowning him in a filled drainage canal.

According to reports, the victim was said to have been on his way to the Oyingbo area of the state at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday, when the hoodlums dragged him out of the bus at the Total bus stop in the Mushin end of the Ikorodu road around Oyewusi Street.

An eyewitness, who identified himself as Jacob Amos, spoke on the incident, saying the reason for the attack was unknown, adding, that policemen from the Alakara Police Division were alerted.

He said, “The man was in the bus when he was dragged out at Total bus stop. They brought him into Mushin and I immediately alerted the policemen from Alakara.

“The police went to Oyewusi Street, and searched the place for more than one hour, but they did not find anything. They patrolled the place and when they did not see anything, they left.

“When everyone had dismissed for the night at about 10 p.m,” Amos continued, “they brought the man to the railway line and pushed him from head down into a filled canal. Only his leg was sticking out and he died soon afterwards.”

Reports reveal that policemen from Alakara division removed the corpse on Thursday when they arrived at the scene.

Another witness who spoke on grounds of anonymity, said the police ordered him to pull out the corpse from the filled canal.

A male resident grieved that the police in the area, were not doing enough to arrest the turbulence in Mushin.

“This is the second time in a week that people from the Oyingbo area would be pestered and killed in Mushin. This may start a war between the two communities,” he said.

Speaking further, the source said, “It’s obvious the police in this area have been compromised. When we called them yesterday that someone had been captured around Oyewusi Street, an informant of the cultists whom we suspect work with the police, quickly alerted the guys and they left the place.”
