Suspected case of Monkeypox recorded in Benue

Residents of Benue State are currently living in fear following a suspected case of monkey pox discovered on Tuesday in Gboko West area of the state.

It was gathered that a 40-year-old woman was seen with symptoms of the killer disease around Agedam area in Gboko Tuesday.

Confirming the development, the State Director of Public Health, Dr. Terna Kur, told newsmen that the ministry of Health had already dispatched its personnel in search of the patient reportedly affected.

Kur stated that he got the report of the suspected case and acted immediately by sending health professionals to trace the victim, adding that by Wednesday evening, the ministry would be able to confirm whether the suspicion was true.

“Yes, we heard of the report in Gboko and someone also mentioned Vandeikiya but that has not been verified.

“On Goko case, the ministry has sent a team of medical doctors to verify the suspected case of monkey pox,” she said.
