A 47-year-old man, Komolafe Olajide, on Friday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly impersonating a staff of Conoil Plc. Olajide, who resides at No. 65, NNPC Road, Ejigbo, Lagos, was arraigned on charges bordering on impersonation and forgery.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Micheal Unah, told the court that the accused committed the offences at 3 p.m. on Dec. 30, at Court 19, Ogba Court.
Unah said the surety submitted fake documents before the court.
“He presented a confirmation of appointment letter from Conoil and its staff identity card and evidence of tax payments, all forged.
“It was discovered after he was interrogated by the court,’’ he said.
Unah said the offences contravened Sections 327, 363 and 378 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, which on conviction attracts three years imprisonment.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Gbajumo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Feb. 8, for mention.
