Akure Activist and counsel to the governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria [ACN], Mr Rotimi Akeredolu [SAN], Charles Titiloye has said the supreme court judgement which affirmed the election of Dr Olusegun Mimiko would create a moral burden on Nigerian Judiciary in years to come.
According to him, ”It is a tacit Judicial endorsement of Electoral fraud; the illegal injection of voters perpetuated by the electoral body which compromised Ondo state 2012 voters register.
”It has become glaring that it is useless and a waste of time pursuing electoral Justice before Nigerian Court, we were dribbled by the Courts right from the Tribunal that cited a law that does not exist to decline Jurisdiction to the Court of Appeal which agreed that it was not a pre-election matter and INEC did not comply with Electoral Act, but refused to cancel the Election.
”Supreme Court which hitherto fixed a date outside constitutional 60days reconvened and insisted that issue of Compromised voters register was not a Pre-election matter, yet dismissed the appeal.
” The question on the lips of Nigerians, is our Court still the last hope of the common man? This is a moral question that will plague the Judiciary in years to come.”
