Ex-governor of Adamawa State, Admiral Murtala Nyako, has hailed the Supreme Court judgement over his impeachment, noting that he has been vindicated.
He explained that the clearance of allegations, which warranted his impeachment when he was serving his second tenure, proved that the state Assembly removed him illegally.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja after the Supreme Court judgement which was delivered by Justice Dantijo Mohammed, Nyako noted that he was particularly happy that he had opportunity of serving his people for two tenures and that he did his best as a statesman.
“I am grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of Adamawa for two tenures, and I know I did my best while serving as governor of the people”, he said.
He recalled that he was committed to improvement of infrastructural development in the state and to address critical areas such as education, health, agriculture.
“From my wealth of experience as somebody who has been in government, I embarked on road constructions, and human capital development before I was obstructed”, he added.
Nyako said that he had since gone back to farming, while reiterating that he would be playing the role of a father, adviser and guidance.
He added that he was committed to seeing that Adamawa state does not deteriorate.
“As a statesman, I will play a role in giving meaningful advice and contributions to the development of Adamawa state and Nigeria as a whole, while I thank those who stood by me in the course of this crisis”, he maintained.
