Nigeria’s senior women national team are now 29th in the world, climbing four places in the latest FIFA rankings released on Friday.
It comes less than a month, after the African champions were dumped out of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in the first round.
In the overall world ranking, the USA are now the number one team, after moving up one place. The American ladies won a record third Women’s World Cup in Canada, while Germany dropped into second place.
The top five is completed by France (3rd, unchanged), Japan (4th, unmoved), England (5th, up 1), Brazil (6th, up 1), Sweden (7th, down 2).
In Africa, the Falcons are the best-ranked team, while the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon overtook Ghana in second spot rising up 10 places to 43. The Black Queens are unmoved in 52nd place and Equatorial Guinea remain fourth in number 55. South Africa moved a place up to 59 in fifth spot.
The next FIFA ranking for women will be published on December 19.
