Head coach of the Super Falcons, Thomas Dennerby, has expressed satisfaction after the team qualified for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Ghana.
Nigeria crushed Gambia 6-0 (7-0 on aggregate) in the second leg of the final round of qualifiers at the Agege Stadium on Monday..
“The second half was really good.
“We had a lot of players on the move. They were always around to rescue each other when caged by the opponent. We don’t have players that stick with the ball. It was a different half, the first was okay, the second was good.
“If we look at individual technical skills and the fitness level of players, I can tell Nigerians that these players are as skillful as any player in Europe but nevertheless we need to work hard, we need more time as it is very vital,” Dennerby told CompleteSports.
Dennerby is also optimistic the Falcons will qualify for the 2019 World Cup in France.
“The expectation of this team is to qualify for the World Cup. The team constitute the best players from Africa. To qualify for the World Cup in France, we have to be among the best three teams in the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Hopefully we can have a successful outing in Ghana and after that we can talk about the World Cup,” he added.
