Super Eagles to leave for Uyo Wednesday ahead of Algeria clash

The Super Eagles will fly into Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital on Wednesday, as they continue to prepare for this weekend’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Gernot Rohr’s men will have their final training session in Abuja on Wednesday morning, before leaving the FCT.

The Media Officer of the team, Toyin Ibitoye told Goal: “Eagles do not want to be caught in the web of the problem that bedeviled their preparations for the Afcon qualifier against Tanzania with the flight arrangements to Uyo suffering series of hitches because the players came one after the other themselves.

“The technical crew wants the players to train together and it was agreed that all players should fly directly to Abuja from where the training starts and then to Uyo. We shall be leaving for Uyo later on Wednesday. The players will rest after arriving on Wednesday and then train on Thursday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.”

Nigeria will be seeking to extend their lead at the top of the African qualifying Group B, when they host the Desert Warriors on Saturday.

The Super Eagles defeated Zambia 2-1 in Ndola in the first round of fixtures, while Algeria were held to a 1-1 draw by Cameroon.
