Super Eagles’ players yet to receive $15,000 bonus for victory over Cote d’Ivoire

From indications, it appears that the members of the Super Eagles, have not recieved the $15,000 they were promised, for progressing into the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

An NFF source in South Africa, disclosed that they had submitted a budget of about N1.4billion to the National Sports Commission, but received N400million, before the competition started. And as such, the NFF is finding it hard to fulfill its responsility towards the players and officials, as they prepare to face Mali on Wednesday.

“We don’t know exactly what is going on. We are still expecting money from the NSC so that we can pay our debt and fulfil other responsibilities to the team. They have done well by reaching the semi-finals and we should show our appreciation,” the source, who preferred to be anonymous said.

He however stated that the Eagles have shown great understanding so far, as the delay in payments have clearly not affected their performances, but expressed fear that discouragement could set in.

The source added that they were hopeful that it will all be sorted out, before Wednesday’s game, saying: “We have hope that with the progress we have achieved, the money will come before Wednesday.”
