Samson Siasia has said Super Eagles players did not agree on a N1million bonus for home wins with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Siasia was in charge of the Eagles at the time in question.
On Wednesday, NFF spokesman, Ademola Olajire, claimed the team’s captain and vice-captain were present in a meeting in Kaduna in March, when the supposed agreement was reached.
But Siasia has now rubbished such claims.
“I don’t know anything about one million (Naira),” Siasia told AfricanFootball on Thursday.
“The agreement was that they will pay the equivalent of dollars at the bank rate, official rate. I don’t know about anything else”, he added.
The players were to paid $5,000 for a home win at the official naira rate, at the time the match was played. The official bank rate was around N200 to a dollar at the time, which explains why they got N500,000 each ($2,500 x 200).
However, they should have received more for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Uyo in November. The naira had depreciated to between N310 and N315.
