Super Eagles coach, Rohr stranded in Germany, players ordered to fly economy class

Nigeria’s preparation for their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia on October 9 is in disarray, after it emerged that coach Gernot Rohr is stranded in Germany.

This is after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), asked Rohr and the foreign-based playes in the team, to buy their flight tickets and get a refund.

It is understood that this order was sent late, catching most of the players off guard. Several players were to arrive on Saturday, but because of this mix-up, it is uncertain when they will report to the Abuja camp.

“Rohr is still in Germany after it was first agreed he will be sent his ticket before he was then asked to buy it and get a refund on arrival,” a source informed AfricanFootball.com

“The players have also been caught off guard by this order to buy their tickets.”

The players are also angry with NFF officials, after they were told to travel on only economy class. Apart from that, they have reportedly not been refunded for tickets they bought to fly down for last month’s 2017 AFCON qualifier against Tanzania.

The federation had earlier denied that it was unable to fly the Super Eagles to Ndola for the match
