Super Eagle loss to South Africa claims one life in Akure

The loss of Nigeria’s Super Eagles to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a Nation’s Cup Qualifier on Saturday has claimed the life of a man in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The man, a retired soldier, had slumped moments after the Eagles conceded the second goal and was rushed to a hospital where he gave up the ghost.

The man identified only as Mr Nigeria, had left his residence at Ajipowo area in Akure for the Barracks to watch the match live on TV.

DAILYPOST gathered that the man, described as an ardent Eagles’ fan, had watched the match at the Army Barracks in Akure alongside some friends.

His friends notified his family and rushed him to a private hospital after he collapsed. He died around midnight.

An eye witness told DAILYPOST that the man was popularly called Mr. Nigeria due to his patriotism, saying he hung a Nigerian flag on his motorcycle always.
