Danbaba Suntai and family in Germany

The Taraba State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that they would not disclose the whereabouts of the Governor of Taraba State, Danbaba Suntai, because some people might want to harm him even while on sick bed.

The party asserted that it was too early for the Governor to return now, noting that it was “wicked and inconsiderate” to expect a man who survived an air crash to return to work so soon.

Chairman of the state’s chapter of the PDP, Hon. Victor Bala Kona, made this disclosure at the weekend in Abuja, saying that the rumour that Suntai died in an air crash led to extra-security measures.

He alleged that Senator Aishatu Alhassan, and the impeached Deputy Governor, Mr. Saleh Usman Danboyi, are persons they strongly believe were working to frustrate the Governor’s return.

“It is a miracle in the sense that it is not every plane crash in the world that leaves passengers with what we can conveniently call ‘minor bruises,” said Kona,

Explaining that Suntai was fast recuperating in a private ward, he said “I spoke with him about 40 minutes ago. As we speak, the Speaker and Chief Judge are with the governor. He is now okay, but staying behind only on the advice of doctors in Germany.”

While dismissing calls for the Governor’s removal, the party chieftain said the Constitution was clear on the matter.

His words: “The constitution is clear on the matter. However, going by what I told you, there would be no need to constitute a medical panel because Governor Suntai will be back soon”
