The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has opined that the current recession ravaging the country was ordained by God.
Speaking on Wednesday to mark the 10th year of his reign in Sokoto, Abubakar said repentance remains the solution to the current economic problem.
According to the monarch,“The only solution to this is for us to show piety and repent. It is ordained by God. So, Nigerians should seek for repentance from God.”
He appealed to both Christians and Muslims to live their lives in line with the principles of their respective Holy books.
Few days ago, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enalamah, had assured Nigerians that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government was working towards ending the current recession, adding that the result of government’s efforts will start manifesting from the end of this year and early next year.
