A suicide bomb attack has occurred at a mosque in Molai-Umarari village, behind the Molai Hospital, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, at about 5am on Wednesday during Muslim early morning prayers.
A member of the youth vigilance group there told ThisDay that the attack killed 22 persons, adding that members of the youth vigilance group have besieged the area to offer assistance to the injured and get the dead to the mortuary.
“Presently, I am at the scene of the attack, we have our men here with soldiers and emergency workers who are working to bring back normalcy and get both the dead and injured to the hospital,” the source stated.
