The time limit allowed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the submission of nomination forms for Presidential and National Assembly candidates ends today.
According to the timetable and guidelines of INEC, the last day for submission of nomination forms for Presidential and National Assembly elections by parties is slated for January 6, 2015.
The parties however have up to January 20th for the submission of nomination forms for Governorship and State House of Assembly candidates.
According to the electoral umpire, the time schedule for the nominations was in accordance with sections 32,37,38,39 of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), which also directed INEC to appoint time for submission.
Going by INEC timetable, the publication of the official register of voters for the elections is expected on January 13, 2015.
