“Suarez will have to respect the club’s values if he joins Arsenal” – Wenger

Arsene Wenger has stated that Luis Suarez would have to drop his bad boy status, if he completes a move to Arsenal this summer.

The Uruguay international, who scored 30 goals last season, is now Wenger’s top transfer target and the Gunners have already had a £40,000,001 bid turned down by Liverpool.

The Anfield club says Suarez will not leave for less than £50m, although Arsenal will test their resolve with a new bid around £43m, as the 26-year-old wants to quit.

“We have values that we want our players to respect. No matter where they come from we will be of course very touchy on that,” Wenger said in a press conference ahead of this weekend’s Emirates Cup.

“This club has built a reputation not only over my years here but over 130 years, and values that are very important for this club have to be respected by every player, no matter where they come from.

“And that will be with every potential signing.”

Suarez is currently serving a 10-match ban, for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in a Premier League game at Anfield.
