Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, has hailed striker Luis Suarez, after the Uruguayan scored the winning goal in Sunday’s El Clasico.
Suarez, who recently scored a brace at Manchester City in the Champions League, controlled a long pass expertly, before tucking the ball under Iker Casillas.
Luis Enrique said it was this type of quality, that persuaded the Catalans to splash out €88million on the former Liverpool man.
“Suarez played a game of a very high standard. He took that goal in a way very few others could have, but that is why we signed him and why we paid what we paid,” he told a post-match press conference.
“We are very happy with his commitment and what he brings to the team.”
The Spaniard however called for calm heads, even as the Nou Camp outfit established a four-point gap between themselves and Real Madrid.
“It was a very intense match between two of the best teams in the world and it is a nice victory for us,” he added.
“It was good to beat our arch-rivals and now we can enjoy our work, but this result will not be decisive.
“There are very important league matches to play and anyone can lose points.”
