Flood has shut down learning and other activities at a Community Secondary School in Rumuapara in Obio-Akpor Local government area of Rivers state, taking over both the school premises and the classrooms.

DAILY POST correspondent who visited the school located along East-West road reports that the flood affected an entire classrooms block and other parts of the school.

Students are now merged into one class causing overcrowding with teachers seen loitering under trees within the school premises.

Students also make use of make-shift bridges to access their classrooms.

Some of the pupils who spoke to DAILY POST called on the Rivers State Government to come to their aid.

One of the students simply identified as Kebin said, “We are suffering. This flood happened before we went on vacation and still the water has not dried up. We did not know the water will still be here.

“The major problem we have is that we don’t learn well anymore. The now merge us into one class. Teachers don’t come to teach us regularly because of the way our classes are.

“We are just calling on the government to come and help us so that they can remove this water.”

The school authorities refused to speak for fear of being victimized.
