Two male staff of Home Best Hotel in Edede, Owerri, Imo State, were on Friday discovered dead in the same hotel room.
It was gathered that one of the deceased, Chima Nnadi, 25, who is a part-time student of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, and an indigene of Imo State, turned off a generating set close to his room before joining his colleague identified as 29-year-old Chukwunonso Ebubealo, who hails from Awka in Anambra State.
The remains of both men were, however, discovered by an employee of the hotel, who was instructed by the manager to break down the door to the room after both men were not seen at their duty post.
But, the Chief Vigilante of the area, Anayo Adiele, while reacting to the death, dismissed the insinuation that they committed suicide.
Also, according to a resident in the area, “I don’t think they died of any generator fume, they put off the generator before going to bed. I think both of them might have died of poison from the last meal they ate that night”.
In other to unravel the mystery behind the death, their corpses have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri mortuary for autopsy.
