Men of the anti-robbery squad attached to the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a nineteen year-old Mechanical Engineering student of the Delta State Polytechnic, for extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public using a fake Facebook page with the name Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress, APC, national leader.
The suspect, Emmanuel Otu was said to be a specialist in internet fraud.
Otu was alleged to have defrauded unsuspecting members while possing at different occasions as a prominent Nigerian on Facebook.
The suspect was apprehended on May 10 in his hostel at Ozoro, Delta State by police detectives led by Abba Kyari.
While addressing journalist at the Command Headquaters in Ikeja on Wednesday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, said the suspected fraudster created a Facebook page in the name of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu which he has been using to defraud people.
Aderantui added that Otu, claimed to be arranging jobs and contracts for his targets at some of the major oil companies operating in the country.
