Strip Oshiomhole of national award now – PDP tells Jonathan

Leadership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday called on President Goodluck Jonathan to strip Governor Adams Oshiomhole of the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON, given to him in 2011.

Chairman, Edo State chapter of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih said this yesterday in Abuja while addressing newsmen.

The party chieftain said the move had become necessary against the backdrop of alleged age falsification by the Governor, adding that Oshiomhole was 61 years old and not 60 as recently celebrated.

The PDP also said it had petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to investigate the matter to establish whether or not a case of alleged perjury had been committed by the Governor or not.

“In a similar event at his inauguration for his second term in 2012, his citation with April 4, 1953, as date of birth, was also read in his presence and the presence of Edo State chief judge.”

In a swift reaction, Governor Oshiomhole, who described the call by Orbih that President Jonathan should stripe him of the CON honour as laughable, saying that Orbih was only trying to be relevant and get board appointment from the President.
