A human rights activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman has warned Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola against sending non-indigene of the state to represent the state in any forum.
This came as reactions continue to trail the cold war between Aregbesola and his Ondo State counterpart, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu over the attack on the State Commissioner for Regional Integration, Mr. Bola ilori, in Akure.
Sulaiman implored Aregbesola to desist from sending people of such calibre to functions “where decision that would affect the overall interest of the people of the State would be taken”.
He noted that “the action of the governor in sending Ilori to Akure meeting was acceptable to the good people of the State”.
DAILY POST recalled that Mr. Ilori who is an indigene of Ondo Town in Ondo State but serving in Osun state as Commissioner, was attacked by some hoodlums in Akure penultimate Thursday during the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting on much demanded restructuring of the country being clamoured for, by every section of the country in recent time.
But Sulaiman in a press statement made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday decried Aregbesola’s action “for sending a non-indigene to represent the interest of the state in a very sensitive gathering of that nature as if the state had no qualified and competent person that could lead the team to the meeting
Sulaiman who is Executive Chairman, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) in the statement “strongly condemned Aregbesola’s action by describing it as anti-Osun people, unpatriotic, irresponsible, irresponsive and slap on the face of Osun people, urging the good people of the State, particularly, the Elders of the State to come out openly and condemned this action of Aregbesola for poking finger into the eyes of Osun people”.
He said “It is a slap on the good people of Osun State for Mr. Rauf Aregbesola to send Bola Ilori to represent the State in Ilori’s State of origin(Ondo) for an important meeting of that nature as if there is no competent indigene of the State that could represent her in such a sensitive gathering. They should be totally condemned by the well meaning people of Osun State so as not to make such action to repeat itself again from Aregbesola and anyone who may lead the State in the future”.
Sulaiman said he has “invoked the spirit of Osun River against those who are not to truly to represent Osun interest in any important forum of this nature but did so in fiat, should be death with more than that of Bola ilori’s scenario in Akure recently.”
Sulaiman who doubles as Chairman, Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS), then demanded for public apology from Aregbesola to the good people of the State.
