The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Lagos State chapter has accused Governor Babatunde Fashola of misleading Lagosians about the duty of the federal task force.

PDP in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Taofik Gani, said the governor was wrong to have informed Lagosians to resist officials of the task force.

The PDP said the governor was vying for the Vice Presidency seat and was only trying to impress the leadership of his party, the All Progressives Congress, by launching a verbal assault on the PDP.

He said, “The Lagos State PDP has come out to swiftly deny the existence of the federal task force for the purpose of election. We maintain that the governor’s information on the innocent Nigerians is not only empty but laughable and has thus reduced the governor’s office to a ‘comic relief’.

“Fashola is currently agitated and restless in office because of his over ambition to be the Vice President of Nigeria, a wish now strongly threatened by an opposition group within the APC.

“The attempt to be relevant and be in the media for the stated inordinate ambition has influenced the governor’s recent contributions to national issues in a negative way. We, therefore, counsel the governor to pursue his political ambition without blackmailing the PDP or the Federal Government but to maintain the level of decorum worthy of the office.”

The party said the APC was only jittery because its time was almost up as Lagosians would vote it out next year.

“The domineering era of Lagos APC has come and gone in the state. We advise the chapter to get its information verified and cogent in order to desist from being a party of mockery”, the PDP said.
