State of emergency: CAN secretary shot dead in Maiduguri

The Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria,CAN, in Maiduguri, Rev Faye Pama Musa was on Tuesday night shot dead by unknown gunmen, inside his Maiduguri residence.

This came barely an hour, after Jonathan declared emergency rule in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.

The late CAN scribe was the Head Pastor of a Pentecostal church in Maiduguri, the headquarters of Boko Haram.

Sources expressed feelings that he was trailed to his residence by two gunmen who shot him at close range at about 8pm.

Authorities at the national secretariat of CAN has confirmed the death of Rev Pama, describing it as sad. CAN, while speaking through Kenny Asaka, the media aide of the Association President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, also said that the CAN President received the news with heavy heart.
