Starcomms workers protest two months unpaid salaries

Staff of one of Nigeria’s telecommunications companies, Starcomms, say they will no longer remain silent over their two months unpaid salaries.

The workers in a protest letter made available to DailyPost argued that the management of the organisation seems not to appreciate the frustration and hardship they are going through.

According to the letter, their hardwork and sacrifice to their workplace is being overlooked, “hence the insolent manner with which they (Starcomms) feel they can handle it.”

“It is evident that our claims as regards the bail-out, our top-notch management gross insensitivity to the present financial situation of the company, diversion of funds to suspected collaborators & cartel, CEO’s ostentatious travels, intimidation/oppression are veracious and depicts the way and manner with which our glorious company has/is been run and employee’s rights equally trampled upon with no recourse to their condition, plight, responsibilities or commitments,” it said.

Continuing, “Our demands has not been acceded to nor even conceived, hence the need to take drastic measures which may include and not limited to an industrial action, pickets and eventually, litigation (if necessary).l

The workers said they are aware of the Management’s antics and crusade of intimidation, deterrence and threat to any member of staff who tries to either complain, instigate or join a protest.

They noted that while such move is “highly anticipated “, measures are in place to “absorb and shock” their employers.
