Marouane Fellaini was taken off just seven minutes after coming on as a substitute, because he picked up an injury.
Manager Jose Mourinho caused a stir on social media, when he took Fellaini off during their 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
But it appears as though the Belgian midfielder was forced off with a knee injury.
Fans had initially thought that Mourinho had showed his incredibly ruthless streak, by taking off the former Everton man as a show of his disappointment in his team.
United’s official Twitter account tweeted that Fellaini “had picked up an injury”.
Jose Mourinho said after the match: “He came off because he had something in his knee. Unlucky for him and unlucky for me. He came on with enthusiasm, but he has an injury in his ligament.”
