Sports Minister pays out N14m to Keshi

Iran v Nigeria: Group F - 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil

Stephen Keshi has reportedly been paid the sum of N14million for the past two months, by the Minister of Sports Dr. Tammy Danagogo.

In a move which essentially undermines the NFF’s authority, Keshi has received the said amount for October and November, despite not having any contract with the federation.

“The minister has been paying Keshi directly from the NFF subvention without any input from the NFF,” a source told AfricanFootball.

“This cannot be good for the relationship between employer and employee.”

The Big Boss took charge of the AFCON qualifiers against Sudan home and away, before returning to take charge of the last two games against Congo and South Africa.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick has insisted that a new deal has not been agreed with Keshi yet, rubbishing speculations that the coach was now going to earn N7m a month – a N2m raise from his initial contract.

“We have not come to an agreement yet (with Keshi),” Pinnick said.
