Spain manager, Fernando Hierro has chosen players that will take their penalties ahead of the side’s World Cup last-16 clash with Russia.
Spain finished top of Group B to progress through to the knockout stages of the competition after draws with Portugal and Morocco and a victory over Iran.
They will now face the host nation, Russia in the round of 16.
Spain played Russia in a warm-up match back in November and captain Sergio Ramos scored two penalties against the World Cup hosts in a 3-3 thriller.
Spanish outlet AS, reports that coach Hierro has decided to drop Ramos from his list of penalty takers should Sunday’s match go beyond extra time.
The news outlet said midfielder David Silva will take the opening spot-kick followed by Diego Costa, Isco, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta (in that order).
Following Spain’s 2-2 draw with Morocco, Hierro admitted that Spain’s lack of goals is a concern.
“Obviously we can improve, there are things that definitely need to be worked on, and we will definitely be self-critical,” he told reporters.
“Five goals in three matches is not the way forward, I’ve told the players that. But they are professionals and understand.
“We have to be very demanding of ourselves, and be clear in our mind that if they score against us so easily it will be very difficult to reach the ultimate goal.”
