Southgate announced as temporary England manager

The Football Association has named Gareth Southgate as the temporary England manager.

His appointment came after Sam Allardyce, left his role in charge of the Three Lions on Tuesday, after he was caught up in a sting, where he made remarks about how to get around transfer rules.

Allardyce, who oversaw only one game, spent 67 days in charge of the team.

Southgate, who is England’s U-21 team coach, will now take over as the search for a new manager begins.

“Gareth Southgate will take charge of the men’s senior team for the next four matches against Malta, Slovenia, Scotland and Spain whilst The FA begins its search for the new England manager,” a Football Association statement read.
