Southern Kaduna killings: Flush out attackers now – Stakeholders tell FG

Stakeholders in Southern part of Kaduna State have urged the federal government to issue directives to the security operatives to comb the area in order to forestall further attacks.

The Stakeholders made the call on Wednesday in Kafanchan while reacting to recent attacks in Atakar and Kaninkon villages of Kaura and Jema’a local government areas in the state.

Mr Yakubu Bitiyong, a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, KSHA, representing Kaura local government said security operatives needed to engage the attackers in their hideouts to rid Southern Kaduna communities of their heinous activities.

Bitiyong said government should expedite action to resolve the boundary issue between Kaduna and Plateau states to check encroachment especially by Fulani herders.

Similarly, Mr Timothy Kambai, former Council Chairman of Zangon Kataf local government area challenged the relevant authorities to review their modes of operation in the area.

Kambai lamented the situation where security operatives operate on the highway while attacks were going on in the villages, adding that, “Villagers aught to be incorporated in the surveillance exercise carried out by the security operatives since they are familiar with the terrain.”

The former chairman also urged the APC-led administration to put its house in order, adding that it was a possible cause for the lingering security challenges.

The Interim Management Committee Chairman of Kaura local government, Mr Alex Iya noted that the flushing out of the attackers was cardinal in stemming the ugly trend.

“It is incumbent on us all to collectively chat the course of peace to guarantee the free flow of legitimate activities that will in turn enhance development,” he said.

It would be recalled that Mifi, Ashim and Zilan villages in Atakar chiefdom of Kaura local government and Baking Kogi village in Kaninkon chiefdom came under heavy attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Sunday and Monday, leading to the killing of about 26 people with several houses burnt while scores sustained different levels of injuries.
